Ans.

PROS:

  • Academics: IPGMER, Kolkata has emerged as a center of academic excellence and it aims to provide quality education to the students in the field of medicine and research. Proper medical training and paid internships in a strategized manner are also offered to the students to make them proficient enough to tackle the medical and health crisis hurdles.
  • Extra-Curricular activities: Apart from academics, IPGMER, Kolkata also facilitates its students to indulge themselves in the annual cultural fest - ‘CRUX’ as per their interest in respective fields. A huge sports ground is also there on the campus where students can actively participate in outdoor games and athletics. • Hospital amenities: IPGMER & SSKM, Kolkata has emerged as the best hospital in Kolkata which has highly qualified doctors with ample experience in their respective fields. Being a multispecialty hospital, it is strongly recommended for the treatment of serious cases as it is one of the largest and oldest trauma centers of West Bengal in which the doctors are experts in performing surgeries and transplants.
  • Location: The location of the college is pretty good as it is connected by road networks as well as metro connectivity to facilitate travel to and from the college.

CONS:

Some minor and negligible cons of the college are that some of its students and staff keep organizing rallies and indulge themselves in promoting some political parties. Due to this, the college always remains in the media’s eyes and this becomes disturbing for some students and doctors. Secondly, due to crowding in the internship phase and workload, most of the students find it difficult to have hands-on experience.

Ans. Like in any other government hospital, an intern at IPGMER, Kolkata also faces a lot of workloads and a hectic schedule.
