Description
NIT Durgapur is ranked 34 by the NIRF 2022 in the Engineering category. The institute is among the eight colleges established under the co-operative ventures between Govt of India and West Bengal. NIT Durgapur is the first institute in Eastern India selected as the Lead Institute under the Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP). The institute has 16 National and 17 International collaborations for student exchange programs, internships, and workshops.
Currently, the institute has 14 departments, 5 Centre of Excellence, 224 faculty members, and 4000 students enrolled. NIT Durgapur offers 4 BTech programs, 19 MTech programs, 3 MSc programs, 1 MCA, 1 MBA, and 1 PhD program in spanning engineering, computer applications, sciences, and management. With primary focus on engineering, the two major programs of the institute are BTech and MTech. Admission to the BTech program is based on JEE Main rank, whereas, MTech admissions require GATE scores. Candidates seeking admission to these courses must score a rank between 4400-40000 in JEE Main exam for the BTech program. For the MTech program, the desirable GATE rank is between 400-800.
