West Bengal University of Health Sciences was established on 1st January, 2003, located at Kolkata, West Bengal. The university provides education in the field of Medical Science. WBUHS offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Postdoctoral courses including the research programmes in Modern System of Medicine, Homoeopathic System of Medicine, Ayurvedic System of Medicine, Unani System of Medicine, Nursing Education, Pharmacy Education, Dental Education, Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy and Education on other paramedical courses such as Occupational Therapy and Prosthetics-Orthotics. Candidates are required to appear in an entrance test depending upon the courses opted by the candidates.

West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS) offers MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery) and BDS (Bachelor of Dental Science) degrees to the candidates who want to make their career in the field of Medical science. The duration period for both the courses is 5.5 years and 4 years respectively. The MBBS degree also includes internship programme of one year. In order to seek admission in MBBS and BDS, candidates needs to appear for NEET UG conducted by CBSE.

At undergraduate level, the university offers Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Nursing for a duration period period of four years. At postgraduate level, the university also offers Master of Science (M.Sc) in various specializations such as Medical Surgical Nursing, Medical Surgical Nursing, Maternal Nursing / Obstetrics & Obstetrical Nursing, Community Health Nursing and Mental Health Nursing for a duration period of two years.

West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS) UG Admissions 2022
At undergraduate level, the university also offers courses like Bachelor of Audiology and Speech Language (BASL), Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) and Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics. The duration period for BASL and BPO programmes is 3 years and 4.5 years respectively.
For admission in BASL and BPT, eligible candidates are selected on the basis of marks scored in the last qualifying examination. However, candidates need to fulfil the eligibility criteria as well.
Admission in BPO is done through an entrance test conducted by the university. However, failing to meet the eligibility criteria will lead to the elimination of candidates from the admission process.

At the doctoral level, West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS) offers Ph.D degree specializing in Health Sciences. The duration period for the Ph.D course is 3-5 years. Intake capacity depends upon the nature of specialization.
In order to seek admission in Ph.D programme, candidates must ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria else they will be eliminated from the admission process. However, selection of candidates is done on the basis of marks scored in entrance test followed by a viva-voce conducted by the university.
Key points:
- A relaxation of 5% marks (i.e. 55% to 50%) may be allowed for those belonging to ST/SC/ OBC (non-creamy layer)/ differently abled and other categories of candidate as per decision of the concerned authorities from time to time
- A candidate may be exempted from appearing in Ph.D entrance examination if he / she fulfils at least one of the following conditions:
a).Qualified in UGC-NET (including JRF), CSIR, DST, DBT, ICMR, UGC, ICHR or other national / state level fellowship through a national / state level screening test.
b).Regular faculty members who have successfully completed 5 or 5 ½ years undergraduate program and 3 years postgraduate program leading to a recognized PG degree without any interruptions and at least 5 years of continuous teaching/ research experience after obtaining recognised Post Graduate degree and at least two publications in peer reviewed / national / international / indexed / refereed Journal.
