KCET 2023: Karnataka Government Restores 9000 Engineering Seats Dropped by KEA

The Karnataka government has restored 9,000 engineering and architecture seats that were dropped by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) from the KCET 2023 seat matrix. The decision was taken after protests from students and parents, who had argued that the seats were unfairly dropped. The KEA had earlier dropped the seats from around 90 colleges, including some top ones, on the grounds that they had not obtained a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) or approval from the government. However, the government has now said that the colleges have been given the necessary approvals, and the seats have been restored. The restoration of the seats is a relief to many students who were hoping to get admission to engineering colleges in Karnataka. However, it is still unclear how the seats will be allocated, as the KCET counselling process is already underway. The government has said that it will issue a fresh notification on the seat allocation process soon. In the meantime, students who are affected by the seat restoration are advised to stay in touch with the KEA and their respective colleges for further updates.
